 "waste of money!" 2009-09-24
By M. Walters Jr. (baltimore)
i went thru 4 sets from bestbuy and all had a terrable buzzing noise coming from the back of the tv. it also has a very poor viewing angle. move left or right the picture washes out. also the led lights made it hard to get natural skin tones on the screen every persons face was to bright no matter what setting the tv was on or how i ajjusted the setting. my samsung 40a650 does not have any of these issues. i took the fourth set back and got the samsung ln46b750 , this set beats the led in every aspect. the blacks are better the white is not overly done and skin tones look natural. c.net also rated the 750b series better then the samsung edge lite led tv's.

 "tinny sounds" 2009-09-20
By R. A. ELLIOTT (nj)
I currently own a samsung 40" lcd...and i love the Tv. But as i read your reviews,i also seem to agree that on most samsungs, the sound just doesnt "cut it" so to speak. I quickly purchased a Samsung Sound bar, which is fantastic. Ive been looking at the new led that samsung is now promoting, but again ive heard issues with the tinny sound. Hopefully samsung can work out this minor problem, cause they do make a great looking tv.

"High quality Picture, Master craftmanship and Poor sound systems" 2009-09-17
By Haricharan
This is the TV, which I was waiting for a long time. I heard they (Samsung) are launching this new world TV long time back and grabbed one 6 series immediately it hit the market here in India. Price is tagged at INR 1,25,000 (USD 2,200) but i got a better deal for INR 82K (USD 1,600). Extremely sexy high quality TV, I can say I have not seen a better color composition in any other TV. Picture quality is Crystal clear on HD videos and best if you use HDMI cables too. It's even better on Dish TV technology like Tatasky / Airtel digital. As the term LED, this TV uses LCD TV with LED backlighting instead of florescent lights. The term is disputed here because they don't use 100% LED as it supposed to be. But in current market scenarios this is the best in quality and you still have to call it a LED because of its better technology. I rate this TV 5/5 for sheer display and elegant looks. Picture quality is also 5/5.

The only disatisfaction in this masterpeice is its sound system, very poor sound system i rate 2/5, I am facing lot of problems with sound vibrations on the back panel of the TV called sound distortions. Samsung technicians themselves commented that this problem is known and they fixed this in 7 series (most ironic is no sales guy explains this problem here in India to customer, its your luck if you get better product for your price) . I have called the service agents plenty of times to fix this big flaw in this series (six sereis). They are calling the fixture as the remedy but I am not satisfied with this rectification. I am planning to go for home theater to fix this nuisance for ever; but it's really costly an affair now.

As overall this TV is 4/5 if you can live with sound problems or you have some different solution to fix this only issue. Or wait for new model which does not have this problem at all.

I will keep posting more updates as and when I come across. I will also post remedies for the problems which I come across with this TV, which would help you guys in making better decision on buying this product.

Have Fun. Don't miss this super technology. You will repent if you go for ordinary LCD. This is the future. Believe it or not.

"Good to Excellent, Significantly better than CCFL?" 2009-09-16
By Gregory L. Dauria (Norwich, CT USA)
I originally ordered the Samsung LN40B650 and was fairly certain that I had made a good choice. I don't know why but I starting second guessing my decision, which led me to review the Samsung LED LCD televisions. While the reviews were not extremely glowing, the Samsung LN40B6000 looked like it could better the picture of the CCFL LN40B650 and I canceled the order for CCFL and went with the 6000 series LED television. One of the "cons" of the edge-placed LED televisions is a noted lack of screen uniformity but that is for larger screen sizes and I thought the 40 inch screen would not be as prone to that problem.

Okay, how does it look? Well, the first indication was offered by the delivery person that stayed to help me set it up, i.e., "that sure is better than the plasma unit I just dropped off." The second was my wife's take on the picture - I had just replaced a Sony Bravia 32 inch LCD that was about 4 years old - "that picture is ridiculous, I feel like those people are in my bedroom." Honestly, I thought the picture was excellent, but I think she was being a little too generous. Some of my own personal thoughts:

1. The clear screen is very good - I have 3 windows, and a bright ceiling light; there are no reflection problems.

2. The colors are good, but I would not rate them any better than my Sony SXRD television, which I just learned has a pending class action suit against it for a problem called optical block - that's not encouraging!

3. Out of the box the picture is good, but after using the settings recommended by CNET, the picture for Blu Ray (Gladiator) was about as good as I've seen.

4. Despite the stated mega contrast ratio of 3,000,000:1, the gamma setting needed to be adjusted to at least +2 or +3 (highest) values to keep dark scenes properly contrasted.

5. The sound is NOT bad, I have a very expensive 7.1 surround system in the Theater Room and the two LN40B6000 rear/downward firing speakers in custom mode with the graphic equalizer bass frequency pushed toward their maximum limits produces respectable sound for a television set, which is certainly satisfactory for bedroom use. Now, if this is meant to be be your primary television and you want theater-quality surround sound, then this TV is going to fall far short of such expectation, but what set would not? My suggestion is to go into sound mode; select custom, select graphic equalizer (set 100HZ to max; 300HZ to 3/4 range); set SRS Trusurround HD to "On" and give a listen. If you're still not happy, buy a sound system, but I cannot see "audio" quality being the decision factor for this set.

6. The backlit remote is nice for nighttime viewing and is fairly user friendly.

7. The Samsung Blu Ray and UB40B6000 automatically recognize one another which may play a role in the exceptional picture that is produced.

The bottom line is that LN40B6000 produces a very good picture, and the sound is decent for a television set - is it worth the couple of hundred dollars more than its CCFL counterpart? I cannot say with certainty, but my hunch is that it is.

Update 9/25: I have read the reviews regarding limited viewing angles, but I have not noticed the dramatic degradation that has been observed by others. Accordingly, I have placed 4 images under harsh viewing conditions (note all camera settings are in static manual mode, no photo editing performed). The series of photos uploaded on Amazon do not come close to the actual picture on the screen in terms of quality, but they do demonstrate relative difference in picture color and contrast as the viewing angle is moved from center - please note photo placement captions. One thing that is obvious is that a brightly lit window will reflect upon the screen, contrary to my original take on reflection issues. Overall, I am very happy with the LN40B6000 performance and have every intention of keeping it. My wife keeps complaining that the picture is too good - it does not make sense to me either.

"Beware of very poor viewing angle" 2009-09-16
By Avi (Alexandria, VA)
I got the 40" 6 series LED sidelit TVs and was initially very impressed with the slim-design, finish and picture quality. I hung it like a picture using the slim-mount system and was very pleased on purchasing such a beautiful TV that could be almost flush to the wall. However I quickly noticed that picture quality dropped sharply if I was only 15-20 degrees off center. I have a 8' wide sofa about 10 ft from the TV and the picture is great when I view it from the center but really bad (washed out and with no-depth) if I'm sitting on either side. I even tested it repeatedly from various angles and found that after around 15-20 degrees teh picture quality drops but then remains consistent. This is not what I expected from Samsung's latest line of products.

I really like the TV's design but find that the viewing angle and picture quality issue is probably too significant to compromise. I am surprised that no one else seem to have mentioned this with the exception of the CNet review. Maybe I have a faulty set - but it seems unlikely since the picture is great if I'm dead center-front of the TV.

"Show up late and doesn't even work" 2009-09-25
By William S. Kerr (Cincinnati, OH)
Purchasing a television through Amazon has now been the worst experience I have ever had with purchasing anything. I have never had to talk to so many people about so many problems. It started with a concern of te delivery date on my purchase. Then I finally recieved the product and it is broken. Now I am lost in a maze of customer service departments and people none of which can completely resolve the issue. I would not order at TV from Amazon if I were you. I am still embroiled in the issue two weeks after my order and still do not have a working TV.

"So glad I bought the Samsung LN37B650" 2009-09-23
By Fantasy Football Fan (California)
Pretty awesome picture quality. A lot better than the 720p 32" Sony Bravia that this one was replacing. Some reviews or salespeople will say that 720p and 1080p doesn't make much difference for broadcast programs, but I think the 1080p is noticably better. DVDs look better, too. If I had more space, I would have purchased the 40" set instead of the 37".

My only complaint is that sometimes text that scrolls along the bottom of the screen looks a little fuzzy for a while, then it becomes sharper and looks fine. This might have something to do with the interpolation mode (automotion?). This is the only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 stars.

The TV was delivered by Pilot. They called ahead to let us know what time they'd be delivering, and they even showed up a few minutes early. They also helped us set up the new TV. There was also a printed manual in the box. Nice swivel base and remote control unit.

I also got a good price by purchasing it directly from Amazon. Took advantage of the email discount code. If I had waited, the cost of this TV would have been lower, but, hey, I've had a chance to enjoy it for a few months already. You can get this now at a very good price, and if you can redeem an electronic coupon, all the better!

 "Awesome! ! !" 2009-09-12
By Kaye Olson (Plainfield, IL)
First I would like to say that the delivery service also gets the best rating. They were just the best. I figured they would just set it inside the door and leave. They brought it into the bedroom plugged it in and tuned it for me. They did not leave until they were sure it was working properly.

I have always purchased Sony or Panasonic. I had a 42" Panasonice Viera Plasma in my bedroom on a free standing stand. The stand just took up too much room. I read all the reviews here for several weeks before deciding on the Samsung. I even went over to BestBuy and watched my final two choices. It was Samsung the whole way. It's light [30+ lbs.] and sits on a stand with wheels so I can move it much easier.

Colors are all vivid and make you feel like you are right there. Thank you Amazon! ! ! !

"Nice features, good price, works with wireless headphones!" 2009-09-05
By ResearchIt (Columbus, OH)
I've had the set for three weeks.

I narrowed my choices down to Samsung LN37B650, Sony Bravia KDL-32XBR9 and LG37LH30.

I ended up getting the bigger Samsung LN37B650. I was replacing the TV in my bedroom but had thoughts of moving this one to our family room. Unfortunately we put it in the bedroom first and I'm not sure we will move it as we're happy with it's size.

One of my requirements was to be able to turn off the TV speakers and use a wireless headphone.

The LG surprisingly doesn't have analog audio out or a headphone jack. So it was eliminated. It does have digital out but that won't work for my headphones. Both the Samsung and Sony have an analog out. My next concern was that you don't turn the TV speaker off but enable external speaker. This causes some of the control features to be unavailable. For example volume-control and mute. My only concern being when I had my old Sony CRT it required an increase in volume to get the wireless headphones to detect sound. On these new set can't control it so I was concerned if it would work with these sets. I went to a store that had both sets, brought my headphones and connected them to both sets and set them to external speakers and the wireless headphones worked with no problem.

The same store had the sets side by side. The Samsung colors are very vivid with the ability to display very high colors. The Sony display was nice but wasn't able to match the Samsung color display. The dark scenes on the Sony were also harder to see. So we went with the Samsung. Now where to purchase, online, a local store? We gave the local store an opportunity to give us there best price after showing them the online prices available. With the lowest price they offered and taxes it wasn't close. We were ready to purchase from [...] but wouldn't you know it when I went to order it the price had gone up. It matched other online retailers but the biggest issue is that most of them will not take any TV's back even if they are DOA when you get them. Buydig was one of the few that would take it back if it was DOA but you would have to pay shipping. Amazon was a little more but they will take it back if DOA and pay shipping. You can't beat that.

I placed the order around 9:00pm on a Monday. When you order through Amazon you can schedule when you want the set delivered. The earliest was Friday but I was unavailable and set it for the following Tuesday. I received and E-mail on Tuesday that the TV had shipped and it would be delivered on the day scheduled but showed it would come on PDT time. That kind of through me as we are in EDT time. On Wednesday a CEVA scheduler called my work number letting me know they had the TV and wanted to confirm when to deliver. Unfortunately I was home but had decided to call them and ask if it would really be delivered on PDT time. They asked if I wanted it delivered between 4:00pm and 9:00pm that evening. Now mind you it was almost 5:00pm. I said sure. I waited and was getting a little worried but got a call about 8:45pm that he was almost to my place. He showed up right at 9:00pm He unboxed, connected the stand and helped me move it to our bedroom. I connected the cable and he started the auto programming. The auto programming takes awhile but he waited patiently and when it was finished the set worked wonderfully. He even had another delivery yet to make. I was pleased and was happy I got it from Amazon and with CEVA's service.

The reason I've not rated it a 5 star is the layout of the remote isn't quite the way I'd like it. Reasons - there is an Info button which gives lots a good channel information but it's down low on the remote. It is also a rather large, long remote and it's not programmable.

To turn on external speaker only to allow just my wireless headphones to work requires 12 button presses on the remote. It would be nice if it was off of the Tools menu with fewer button presses.

The InfoLink needs more features. The weather info is nice but if you could access more I'd enjoy it more.

Would I but it again, yes!!! Enjoy.

"Be Aware of Mail-In Service under the Warranty" 2009-09-21
By Web Shopper (Washington State, USA)
Amazon hasn't updated its page for the LN32B650. Samsung has changed what qualifies for in-home warranty service, and guess what - the 32 inch model no longer qualifies. I called Samsung and they confirmed that if you want warranty service, you have to mail your television to the warranty service provider AT YOUR EXPENSE. Yes, no return shipping label, nothing but a vague statement from customer service that Samsung will reimburse for shipping costs "in certain circumstances."

Imagine, $150 to send your $900 television to New Jersey for "warranty service." Now, imagine your blood pressure exceeding normal limits.

 "Awesome TV!" 2009-09-18
By DC Reader (Washington, DC)

I recently purchased a Sony 32" XBR9 and had to return it because it was a lemon. It was my third Sony so I was stunned and disappointed that it did not work properly right out of the box. Fortunately, I caught a gander at this Samsung and decided to give it a try and I am so happy that I did. The picture is AMAZING, and you don't have to turn the volume up too high to hear it. As sad as I was to return the Sony, I am very pleased with this Samsung.

"Great TV, reviews are good and would recommend this TV" 2009-09-14
By Lawrence N. Wadsworth (Cantonment,FL)
I have had this TV for a month now and love it. I have always been a Sony buyer, but this TV is a good one. I have it hooked to a cable network and the pics are great. Would be better with satellite. I have it hooked to my stereo system and the sound is very impressive. The sound through the speakers is what I would expect from a TV. I have the USB by Samsung for my info link and it works good. Not really sure why I paid $80.00 dollars for a few graphics about the weather, but I was curious.

I purchased a Linksys wireless game adapter so I could download the latest firmware and eventually hook up to a blu-ray system.

All in all I am very pleased with my purchase. The shipment was fast and the dealer packaged the TV very well.

"Awesome TV at 120 hz with Matte Screen, not so good at 60 hz" 2009-09-19
By David Bryan
I was looking for the best matte finish 52" lcd I could find and I believe this is the one. We had to return a very expensive Panasonic plasma after experiencing glare problems in our bedroom. Our TV faces two windows and the matte finish completely washes out any problems that we were having with the plasma. I prefer lcd tvs anyway for the nice, bright colors and whites. It's funny how the salesmen at the stores always try and convince you that the darks are so great on the plasmas, but fail to mention that plasmas are darker tvs and have gray whites. This tv has great blacks compared to my two year old Sony Bravia lcd. Samsung increased the contrast ratio on this model from previous models giving you both great brights and darks.

The only reason I didn't give this tv five stars is that we have had some issues with watching it on 60 hertz. I planned on watching it all the time at 120 hertz, but both my wife and I decided that the "soap opera" (strange affect of picture that eliminates the movie feel of watching tv) was not for us. We preferred watching at 60 hertz at all times except for sports (which 120 hertz is awesome!). My old Sony Bravia handled 60 hertz much better than this tv. When the camera would pan from side to side during a movie or show, the Sony only caused motion blur a few times over the two years we owned it. This Samsung shows motion blur VERY REGULARLY at 60 hertz. It can be very distracting. This is my only criticism, but it is a real problem. If you plan on watching in 120 hertz and prefer super real affect it gives, this tv will blow you away. It does produce an absolutely beautiful picture with bright vivid colors. The HD picture is stunning. I just wish it would do at least as well as my two year old Sony did on 60 hertz since this is how we almost always watch it. I just don't know why this feature would regress on a tv that is two years newer than my old one. Every other feature has been upgraded and is much better except for this one.

Still, overall I am a satisfied customer. I just with that one thing was different. I just thought I would make people aware of this one issue in case you are primarily a 60 hertz tv watcher like we are.

 "Great TV" 2009-09-12

I did my research before buying this TV. The picture is GREAT, delivery was good, the whole process was simple and easy, the free Blu ray was a nice touch also. Can't say enough about the great picture, I have alot of windows in the room, and the matte finish works great! This is a must buy for me!

Samsung LN52B630 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color

I have been researching new TV's for far too long and realized I can wait and wait and they will only get better and cheaper. I decided it was finally time to pull the trigger though. Initially I was leaning more towards the Toshiba 670 LED or the Samsung B650 because I wasn't completely sold on the matte screen even though my girlfriend insisted. The edge lit LED technology by Samsung seems to have its problems and I couldn't justify the cost. The Toshiba unfortunately I was somewhat disappointed by the reviews so decided that was out. I honestly was trying everything I could to steer my girlfriend away from the matte screen and explain how the contrast ratio was lower. My fear was that it would dull out the picture as I have seen on my girlfriends parents Phillips LCD. Don't get me wrong the picture is nice and sharp but everything looks dull. So I finally decided that I will not go another football season on my old TV and was only getting it if I compromised with the GF so went ahead and ordered the LN52B630 from Amazon. Shipping was great. The delivery was on time and they placed the TV on the stand and powered the TV up. Any fears I might have had about the dullness of the picture went out the window (dynamic mode is actually too bright for me). HD just looks plain amazing right out of the box on this TV and I couldn't be happier. There are only 2 issues I could possibly mention in this review. 1st off I am honestly not impressed by the sound but it is adequate and most of the time I have it playing through my surround sound. 2nd is that the 120hz Automotion Plus needs (in my opinion) to be turned off if not watching sports otherwise you get this strange "soap opera" effect when watching your normal tv shows. Overall this is an excellent TV and I am so glad I opted for the matte screen.

When this set was deliver and set up it was a perfect picture and still is after 4 months. We never had to adjust the color. I researched for 2 years before I finally decided on this one because I was told since Sony was more expensive it had to be better. Well, I am so glad I did not spend the extra money because I can not tell the difference between the two and saved a lot of money. If you buy this set I promise you will be very happy.

 "Mind Blowing Picture" 2009-09-23
By Jubes (Rocky Mount, NC)
The Samsung LED TVs are the BEST available on the market. The picture will blow your mind. The deep blacks and bright colors are amazing. The antiblur feature is very apparent and makes motion smooth and clear. As far as the "uniformity" issues one other reviewer was having, I see none. In fact, I find "uniformity" issues with the old LCD tvs that use CFLs that are quite noticeable (brightness in the corners of the screen and the middle near the bottom are apparent on most any LCD that uses CFLs). Again, let me reiterate, the picture on this LED TV is AWESOME.

The thin design and crystal like stlying is super cool. I was hesitant about the red Touch of Color that Samsung uses but once I set up the TV, it was barely noticeable. It's a ruby colored accent on the outter edge of the bezel.

Buy this TV! You will not be disappointed.

 "The COOL Factor" 2009-09-22
By John Scott
It was love at first sight. I first saw a Samsung LED hanging on the wall in Best Buy. I'm sure my mouth was hanging open. I couldn't get over how vivid the picture was, almost sureal. The only thing not to like was the premium price compared to a standard Samsung LCD of the same size. I spent several months looking for a replacement for our living room TV. Just when I'd convinced myself that the LED wasn't worth the price difference, Amazon, Sears, and Best Buy started lowering the price. I jumped at a deal and couldn't be happier. I bought the Samsung wall mount and hid the cables in the wall. The Samsung mount is way over priced, but works perfectly and really lets the TV hug the wall. I guess the price isn't that big an issue when spread over the several years that I'll have this TV. The TV is in a large living room / dining room with high ceilings with two skylights. The room is very bright during the day, but the picture hold it's own, bright and no glare. With Blue Ray and HD cable, the picture is incredable. It does take some getting used to, it's somewhat distracting at first. I see none of the light pumping or motion blur as mentioned in some reviews. Yes, the sound sucks. But what home theater buff really expects good sound from TV speakers. I've yet to have someone see the TV and not stop and stare. The vivid picture, ultra thin design, and close wall mount create a "Cool Factor" that can't be ignored.

"Nothing is perfect but this is close" 2009-09-02
By Donald H. Leroy (Minnesota)
I bought this TV about two weeks ago, the picture in the store is the picture I was hoping to get at home and did! It almost seems 3D at times, it is by far the best picture I have ever seen on a TV. Watching BluRay is breathtaking. I have a surround sound system so the speaker issues people talk about are lost on me, I can't imagine having a picture like this without complementing it with surround sound, it would be like buying a hot car with an AM radio in it.

A couple of drawbacks, the power light that appears in the clear neck of the base is very annoying in particular when watching a movie in letterbox, it almost draws your eye away from the picture. I finally covered it with a slim strip tape and that did the trick so they could definately fix that in the future. The other thing that COULD BE a point of contention the glossy screen. I don't have a situation where it is a problem but if your room has a lot of windows or light goming in there is likely to be some glare problems.

"nice but not so nice" 2009-09-01
By David S (Albany, NY)
Purchased the tv last Sunday and brought it back a week later. If you sit right in front of the tv, the picture is outstanding. As soon as you move any deviation from center the picture begins to "wash out" From about 10 degrees on, the picture is unwatchable. Totally unaccebtable. Got a Sony XBR instead. I think the LED technology has a way to go before its totally going to replace regular LCDs. The last and deciding factor was when Saturday night I was in a sports bar filled with inexpensive 32 inch Vizios. The picture from an angle was far better from those TVS than from the Samsung LED. Also, the glare from the screen is horrible during the day. If you have any windows in the room you are watching this tv during the day, the screen will reflect the light.

One last thing, I know flat panel TVs speakers are not good, but these speakers were horrible. Even regular TV was bad. You definately need a sound bar at the least with this TV. Steer clear in my opinion.

 "Almost perfect" 2009-08-29
By Tyron (Redmond, Washington)
I love this Television! Amazing picture quality, easy to configure with some great presets. I purchased this TV from Best Buy and had it delivered the next few days. When I bought it, it was slightly cheaper than what was being offered on Amazon, but since, the Amazon price has been updated to be cheaper. It's amazing to me how quickly the prices on these TVs are dropping.

The only problem I have with the TV and the reason I only gave it 4 stars is the automatically adjusting backlight feature. When the picture is bright, the contrast is amazing, but when the image is dark, the TV dims the backlight so the blacks are blacker. The only problem with this approach is everything gets darker and the contrast goes to hell. This usually isn't a problem and mostly noticeable on credits which isn't a huge deal. I would think you would be able to turn this feature off, but Samsung doesn't allow for that. If anyone knows how to turn it off, I would be very interested in knowing.

Everything else is amazing. Contrast ratio (when the picture is bright) is outstanding, blacks are pitch and the whites seem bright enough to burn your eyes. For easy setup, I recommend the Dynamic setting for the best contrast. Colors seem brilliant and sharp. This setting turns the backlight to 10 which is normally set at 5 on the default settings. Not sure why 5 is the default, it causes the picture to look kind of washed out. I would think that Samsung would want you to be impressed the moment you turned the TV on without any adjustment.

I use Windows Media Center as my primary interface so I have a computer connected to the TV via HDMI. For proper clarity on computer text, you will need to turn the sharpness setting down. The edge enhancement defaults cause super small details like computer text to become washed out. The sharpness feature works very well for HD movies though.

The 120hz Automotion Plus is a quirky feature at best. I have found uses for the different settings depending on the media type. By default the Automotion plus is set to Normal which effectively doubles your framerate by interpolating middle frames(it's magic). A 24 fps signal will show 48 fps and a 60 fps signal will show 120 fps. While this sounds good in theory, the final output is not necessarily all that pleasing. One of the qualities of films, something that give movies a distinctive look from video is the lower frame rate. Movies are filmed at 24 fps and doubling that framerate makes it feel more like video than film IMHO. The interpolation process also isn't perfect. Fast moving scenes can create some unusual anomalies in the picture. People running against a moving backdrop can sometimes seem to have a distortion surrounding them. Not sure if this distortion is coming from the interpolation or artifacts in the Blu-ray video compression, but it's distracting and only noticable with the Automotion turned on. It's not a total loss though, some settings can be useful depending on the source material. I found with Blu-ray and computer animation the Normal setting provides a great effect, giving the impression of a real time rendered output. Wall-E with Automotion Plus is amazing. For standard filmed movies, I recommend the Clear setting, which maintains the 24 fps, but uses the extra frame interpolation to sharpen the blur of fast moving objects. I recommend turning it off for Video games and television. Any anomalies in the picture, such as vertical refresh image tearing in games or mpeg image compression artifacts by cable or satellite are only exasperated by Automotion plus.

I haven't used any of the Media playing abilities of the TV as I have a computer connected to it. Windows 7 handles all of my media playback needs. I highly recommend taking this approach to media playback and purchasing the 6000 model which is quite a bit cheaper, but lacks some of the more advanced network media playback features. While the 7000 and 8000 have some nice online features, it can't beat a computer. Windows 7/Vista also allows you to scale up the user interface dpi while maintain the 1080p resolution for easy viewing with a super sharp picture.

All in all, my recommendation is to buy this TV. Better contrast than plasma with the clarity of LCD. Can't beat that. I am sure that Samsung plans to release a 240hz version of the television with a more expensive price tag, but I don't recommend it. Automotion plus is kind of neat, but its gimmicky more than anything else.

 "Couldn't be happier" 2009-09-17
By Vince Walker (Pleasanton, CA USA)
I chose this model specifically because I was concerned about screen reflections. Of all the sets I've reviewed in stores, this one does the best job. I spent about a year finally making up my mind on which tv to buy.

Picture quality at home is much better than what I experienced while reviewing them in the stores. I assume the stores really do not have very good video signals going into their tvs.

Comcast HD quality far surpassed my expectations. It really is awesome. I am amazed every time I watch it. Standard def channels are very good as well. Way better than what I expected. Big tip for everyone watching standard def input. Watch it in Movie Mode. The primary issue being the sharpness level. If you have sharpness level set high on a standard def signal it doesn't work well. Turning sharpness to zero will give you the best picture on standard def.

I had some issues with using AutoMotion Plus with Comcast HD. It would sometimes produce artifacts, like jerky, stuttering movements. Best to just turn that off. For Blu-Ray however, the AutoMotion Plus does work excellent and did not experience these artifacts. Despite what I read in a CNET review, the dejudder processing does work very well for blu-ray and recommend leaving this setting on for blu-ray and completely off for cable viewing.

Blu-ray in general was a big disappointment for me initially. What I discovered is that not all blu-ray disks are created equally. It all depends on how the original movie was shot and then how the blu-ray maker encoded that particular movie when making the blu-ray disk. Some movies will appear grainy because they were shot in film mode, while other movies shot in video mode are crystal clear. The primary solution to this is the same as watching standard def, turn down the sharpness level, although setting it to zero is not necessarily optimal for blu-ray. A setting of 20% seemed to work well on all disks.

I had some hesitation about this model because of the Red Touch of Color. This model only has the red at the bottom, not on the top or sides. As others have noted, it is not bright red like the marketing material. In my home, it is an extremely dark red. It is not even noticeable unless directly looking at the bottom bezel and certainly not a distraction in any other scenario. If you are worried about the Red, I would say this is totally a non-issue.

I found the sound quality excellent. Of course it is not as good as a home theater setup. There is not any TV that is going to give you a surround sound experience like a home theater will. I normally listen to the sound at 10% and might need to take it up to 25% when lots of noise is going on in the house. I have this set in a spare bedroom which also contributes to the sound working so well for me. Being in a larger more open area might not work as good, but then you would want a home theater setup anyway.

XBOX 360 works perfectly on it. No lag or display issues at all.

Netflix streaming looks great too. You have to have high speed internet for that to work well though. I have the 1.5mbps DSL package and that does not work well much of the time. I am upgrading to comast internet service which should allow the netflix to stream in full HD all the time instead of periodically downgrading the signal like it does with my dsl.

I haven't had any problems with the set. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I am a very picky customer, so this is saying a lot. Would definitely buy it again if I had to make the choice again.

"Great TV, with a little tweaking" 2009-09-15
By Make It Simple
I've had this television for a week and have watched both movies and HD TV with it. There is no question it's an excellent television. My only reservation is that it makes everything look like it was shot on video (much the way daytime soap operas look). That's fine for sports or documentaries like "Planet Earth", but I find it really distracting for a movie (on DVD or TV). There have been articles written (check CNET) about the result of taking "judder" out of the images we see on the mid to high end (120 hz + refresh rate) televisions. Some people like the "video" effect and others prefer the way movies look in theaters. I am strongly in the latter camp. Fortunately, it's relatively easy to adjust the TV to your preferences. I found that you can achieve an incredible picture for TV and DVD by turning both the judder and blur control down one step from their default settings. With that change, I am completely happy with this television. As an aside, I also have a 40" Samsung LN40B550 which has a 60 hz refresh rate. That television does not produce the same "shot-on-video" effect, but overall, the picture is not as good as the LNB630.

 "great colors without glare" 2009-09-15
By Zhexin Zhang
Great TV. I'm very glad I went with the matte finish. Glare is far less than with a glossy finish. Sure, the contrast and colors aren't as great as a glossy screen, but they are still very good and I don't think most people can tell a difference. Lots of connections and I really like the audio out option can be switched from the TV speakers to external speakers that you can hook up. The game mode is great as it really reduces the lag time of games. Guitar Hero only has a 10 millisecond delay according to my calibration. TV's that don't have a gaming mode (like my buddie's) have a lot higher delay and makes calibration more frustrating to do. The 120hz is also nice. There are different options or modes of having it on (of even off). Sports and most TV shows look fine with it on, although I suggest turning it off with movies. All in all a great TV!

SO, this looks like a prevalent issues with this model.I hate to get a part replaced for a Brand New TV.

3. It plays avi and mkv videos directly from an usb port, (portable hard drive or usb flash memory)

4. the red trim makes it very atractive

5. it can connect wireless with the extra dongle.

Cons:

1. hard to see the buttons in the unit. (not the remote)but at the same time this makes it look more elegant so it is not a big con.
